TEQUIOS VECINALES

A "Tequio" is a community practice in Mexico, where volunteers perform unpaid public works to beautify spaces and improve the living conditions in their surroundings. This practice has been part of Mexican culture for centuries.

In an effort to improve the Historic Center, the mayor of Oaxaca de Juárez, Ray Chagoya, created the "Tequios Vecinales" program (Neighborhood Tequios), where neighbors work together to improve these spaces and thus encourage this cultural practice.
